Texts for Nothing
September 28 - November 5, 2000
By Samuel Beckett, Directed by and featuring Bill Irwin

A world-weary tramp stands on a hillside and surveys the universe. Perplexed, amazed, bemused, and bewildered, he searches for words to provide a foothold on the hill and in the cosmos. But words, like the boggy ground he stands on, prove slippery, unexpectedly droll and preposterously sad. Acclaimed actor/director Bill Irwin's virtuoso skills are perfectly matched to Beckett's existential vaudeville. His authorized production of Texts for Nothing will begin the second decade of Classic Stage Company's exploration of Beckett, which has included all the master's major works.
