Dear Friends,

Our 2009-2010 season began in November with THE AGE OF IRON, an epic retelling of the Trojan War based on Shakespeare’s TROILUS & CRESSIDA and Thomas Heywood’s IRON AGE. Now playing: VENUS IN FUR a dazzling new play that takes us behind the scenes of an audition, where a man and a woman blur the lines between fantasy and reality, seduction and power, love and sex. Written by DAVID IVES and directed by WALTER BOBBIE, VENUS IN FUR features NINA ARIANDA and WES BENTLEY, and reunites Ives and Bobbie, who last worked together at CSC on the acclaimed production of NEW JERUSALEM. And in the spring, two time Academy award winner DIANNE WIEST returns to CSC in the Russian masterpiece, THE FOREST, by ALEXANDER OSTROVSKY. In this delightful romantic romp the most dangerous creatures in the forest are two vagabond actors, posing as gentry, who crash a nearby estate. Love, lies and laughter ensue as they turn this otherwise orderly manor upside down.

The season also included readings of PIRANDELLO’S HENRY IV featuring JOHN TURTURRO as part of our FIRST LOOK FESTIVAL, as well as our ever popular Open Rehearsal Series with MANDY PATINKIN in MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING. And for our Education & Outreach programming, our fifth annual YOUNG COMPANY presentation will be Shakespeare’s TWELFTH NIGHT, especially tailored for family and student audiences. And our BOOKS ON STAGE reading series will tackle adaptations of Leo Tolstoy's epic WAR AND PEACE.
