THE CRADLE WILL ROCK

A PLAY IN MUSIC

“ALTOGETHER WONDERFUL! The uniformly excellent cast… all sing about corruption and hope, social acceptance and marginalization, with deep feeling and humor.”
– Hilton Als, The New Yorker

THE CRADLE WILL ROCK

March 21 – May 19, 2019
at the Lynn F. Angelson Theater
A PLAY IN MUSIC BY MARC BLITZSTEIN
DIRECTED BY JOHN DOYLE

In Steeltown, USA, laborer Larry Foreman struggles to unionize fellow steel workers against mounting attacks from a greedy industrialist, who uses his power to influence nearly everyone else in town. Marc Blitzstein’s play in music, created through the Federal Theater Project, was famously shut down on the eve of opening night by federal authorities fearing its pro-labor stance.
